Abstract: The famous Iwasawa's mu=0 conjecture asserts that the mu invariant of any number field should be 0 along its cyclotomic Zp extension. Analogously, Greenberg's mu=0 conjecture asserts that the algebraic mu invariant of an elliptic curve E along the cyclotomic Zp extension of Q is 0, after passing to an isogenous curve if necessary. In this talk, we show that Greenberg's mu=0 conjecture for E follows from Iwasawa's mu=0 result for its p-th division field Q(E[p]). If E[p] is reducible as a G_Q module, we confirm both conjectures, as well as Stevens's analytic mu=0 conjecture for his minimal curve via the Iwasawa Main Conjecture. This is joint work with Zichao Lin.
