Abstract: In this talk, I will present our study of time-harmonic scattering and scattering resonances for a bounded metamaterial composed of a periodic array of high-contrast inclusions. The high contrast generates microscopic resonances, which lead, in the homogenization limit, to a frequency-dependent dispersive effective equation. We derive the effective scattering model and establish quantitative convergence rates for both the scattered field and the scattering resonances. The method combines homogenization theory and scattering theory and can be adapted to other wave problems involving microstructures. If time permits, I will also discuss some ongoing work on the stochastic setting. This talk is based on joint work with Yuxin Du (Tsinghua university) and Wenjia Jing (Tsinghua university).
